A Safe Haven Veterans Housing

Since 1994, A Safe Haven has offered three types of Veteran housing based on individual need, assessment and eligibility, including transitional housing, per diem housing and permanent affordable housing. Veterans have access to the appropriate level of housing which may include full wrap-around services, supportive housing and employment services, to independent permanent affordable housing.  Based on the assessment and eligibility, a Veteran can start at the transitional housing stage and work their way progressively through our housing programs. They can also start at the per diem program level or go directly to independent permanent affordable housing.

A Safe Haven has many beautiful locations within and throughout the greater Chicagoland area and all housing is in neighborhood settings.  Regardless of the path taken, the end goal is the same–to achieve successful reintegration into the community, sustainable self-sufficiency and permanent independent affordable housing, with pride and purpose, restored.

What We Do

A Safe Haven helps people aspire, transform, and sustain their lives from homelessness to self-sufficiency with pride and purpose. A Safe Haven provides the tools for each individual to overcome the root causes of homelessness through a holistic, scalable model. A Safe Haven’s visible social and economic impact unites families, stabilizes neighborhoods, and creates vibrant, viable communities.
