State of Illinois Proclaims A Safe Haven Day for 5th Annual 5k RUN! To End Homelessness, Music Revolution & Military Veteran Stand Down in Douglas Park Chicago

Chicago, IL July 10, 2015 A Safe Haven Foundation is hosting their 5th Annual 5k RUN! To End Homelessness in Chicago – Presented by Cinespace Chicago Film Studios and Cazares Resorts. Event Chairman is Governor Bruce Rauner is joined an Honorary Committee of over 90 elected officials from throughout the State of Illinois.

The 5K run walk to end homelessness is the oldest and largest race for the cause in the Chicagoland area and perhaps the State of Illinois.   Their hope is to draw more attention to the issue of homelessness, particularly veterans, and the great job A Safe Haven does in helping people transition from dependency to self-sufficiency.

Who: Co-founder and President of A Safe Haven Foundation, Neli Vazquez-Rowland, President of Cinespace Film Studios Alex Pissios and President of Cazares Resorts Adrian Cazares.

What: A 3 Part Event Day:

Part I: The Annual 5K RUN! and Walk To End Homelessness benefiting A Safe Haven Foundation is a fundraiser held in one of the most poverty stricken communities, it attracted over 5,000 people last year.

Part II: The Music Revolution to End Homelessness, features emerging artists that are selected through a formal nomination process representing various genres. The performances occur before and after the 5k run walk. The event has been pivotal for many past performers who have gone on to win various industry awards and to launch significant careers in music.

Part III: The Veteran Military Stand Down event is a job, health, academic and social service fair held exclusively for qualified Military Veterans. All booths are represented by groups providing specific services or resources to homeless veterans. The Military Veteran Stand Down event attracted almost 700 Military Veterans and they were also all provided with almost $1,000,000 worth of services and goods including business suits, shoes and more. The Veteran event is sponsored by the US Department of Defense, McCormick Foundation, Get Covered, Rotary One among others.
