A SAFE HAVEN FOUNDATION’S CO-FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT, NELI ROWLAND VAZQUEZ IS THE HONOREE OF THIS YEAR’S ORGULLO AWARD

Chicago, IL (November 28, 2017) Neli Vazquez Rowland, President and Co-founder of A Safe Haven, was honored by Univision Chicago and Goya Foods as the Orgullo Award Nominee for their 2017 “Orgullo Comunitario Award.”  The honor celebrates and recognizes community leaders who strive to provide a positive impact on the quality of life for families and individuals in crisis.

“As a Latina, it is a huge honor to be recognized by both UNIVISION & GOYA Foods – two of the top brands in the world in their respective fields. Having grown up as a huge fan of both the world wide network and as a loyal customer of the international food company, a brand I trust to spice up my favorite recipes, I could not be more humbled and honored to be recognized for our leadership in community service with the Prestigious Orgullo (‘translation’ PRIDE) award by them. On behalf of the entire A Safe Haven Foundation team, I gratefully accept this incredible award and will do my best to honor their recognition by continuing to grow and enhance our efforts every day to do our part to end homelessness for as many people as we can at A Safe Haven,” said Neli Vazquez Rowland, President and Co-founder of A Safe Haven Foundation.

As a result of the recognition from A Safe Haven’s flagship location, the culinary staff teamed up Goya Foods Health Educator Meriterese Racanelli, and Univision Chicago to provide A Safe Haven’s homeless clients with a nutritious meal along with health education on the importance of healthy eating.  Univision Chicago covered the event, and Goya Foods graciously contributed the food.
