Summary This individual will perform the following duties and instruct staff and residents in food handling, preparation, sanitation, safety, and storage.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals
  • Cook meals in quantities according to menu and number of portions to be served, including batch cooking.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes and cooking equipment.
  • Bake breads and pastries.
  • Clean, cut, and prepare meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Ensure that all individuals and groups receive a meal.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including sweeping, and mopping of floors.
  • Prepare and provide the ingredients or supplies required for catering events.
  • Train and coach new and current employees.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

To perform the job successfully, applicants should demonstrate the following skills.

  • Knowledge of general principles and approaches for providing food services.
  • Ability to:
    • Maintain professional composure in emotional and complex situations.
    • Maintain organized workspace and documentation.
    • Perform work duties with limited supervision.
    • Work in an environment with frequent periods of moderate to loud noise.
    • Stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
    • Lift up t50 pounds.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.)

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education AAS, CC certification, or equivalent experience. Education and training in food management, culinary preparation, or food service preferred.
Certificates/Licenses Food Service Sanitation Certificate preferred.
Experience 1+ years of food service experience.
