Position Title Landscape Supervisor
Reports To Director of Landscaping
FLSA Status Exempt
Summary This individual will directly supervise, motivate, train and coordinate activities of workers engaged in landscaping or grounds keeping activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and participate in daily landscape production at assigned sites.
  • Delegate tasks to trainees and assume responsibility for the correct completion of assignments.
  • Provide technical landscape, horticultural maintenance, and installation training to trainees.
  • Ensure safe use, cleanliness, and general maintenance of assigned landscape vehicle and equipment.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers.
  • Complete daily paperwork and communicate with manager in a timely manner.
  • Provide discipline and feedback to trainees according to the Landscape Handbook guidelines.
  • Exhibit professional behavior and communication to trainees.
  • Participate in snow removal during winter months as needed.
  • Provide on-site instruction to crew members for landscape maintenance needs.
  • Plant and/or maintain vegetation through activities such as mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, or pruning.
  • Answer inquiries from potential customers regarding methods and materials.
  • Train and supervise workers on tasks such as transplanting or pruning trees or shrubs, using equipment, or caring for turf.
  • Perform tasks such as cutting grass, planting flowers, pulling weeds, trimming edges, picking up trash, and watering plants.
  • Drive crew members to different job sites.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

To perform the job successfully, applicants should demonstrate the following skills.

  • Proficiency with commercial landscape maintenance equipment and hand tools.
  • Knowledge and experience in landscape maintenance and installation techniques.
  • Ability to operate large vehicles on busy and small side streets and expressways.
  • Maintain professional composure in emotional and complex situations.
  • Maintain organized workspace and documentation.
  • Perform work duties with limited supervision.
  • Stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 to 5 years of Landscape Experience

 

Certificates/Licenses Driver’s License
