Announcing A Safe Haven’s 4th Annual 5K RUN! Event Sponsors

Chicago, IL – May 15, 2014 A Safe Haven Foundation is proud to announce that the 4th Annual 5k RUN! To End Homelessness will take place on Sunday, July 13th, 2014 in Chicago’s beautiful and historic Douglas Park. Thousands of people will join A Safe Haven at the 5k RUN/WALK. The 5k begins across the street from A Safe Haven main headquarters and shelter located in the North Lawndale community at Roosevelt Rd. and California Ave. North Lawndale is one of the dozens of communities throughout the Chicagoland area where A Safe Haven does some of its most impactful work transforming lives from poverty to sustainable self-sufficiency.

The chip-timed 5K and official course for the adults requires online registration at a early bird rate of $35 for each person creating or joining a team. There will also be in-person registration available at packet pick-up and same day registrations available at a rate of $45 and $50, respectively. For the Kids Fun Run, kids 12 and under are free but do require registration online in advance. The event will also include live music performances; there is fun for the whole family and the opportunity for tremendous impact in the fight to end homelessness. The timed race begins sharply at 8AM, and registration is only $35 before June 15th and includes Run or Walk bib, commemorative T-shirt , sunglasses, and event swag bag. T-shirts and other swag items will also be made available on race day. After the run, free fruit, snacks, and cold beverages will be available for participants to enjoy.

This year, the 5k RUN! To End Homelessness event will be immediately followed by the Inaugural VETERAN STAND DOWN. A Veteran Stand Down is a Veterans only event which offers veterans in need direct access to clothing, haircuts, healthcare services, education, employment, and housing. The event will be held inside the Douglas Park Field House, and vendors and sponsors from all industries offering benefits, services and opportunities to Veterans will be represented.

“Thanks to our sponsors and event participants we are excited to say that this year the event has recruited more committed sponsors and is on track to draw record crowds in support of the cause. We are grateful to everyone who has stepped up to volunteer, sign up, create teams and sponsor this event on behalf of the people we serve. I cannot think of a better way to raise awareness and to directly help people in need right here in the communities that need it the most than to bring people together from everywhere to make an impact in a fun way that promotes camaraderie, health and fitness- with a dash of friendly competition too- for the whole family. ” said Neli Vazquez Rowland, President.

The Veteran Stand Down event is partially funded by the Department of Labor-DVETS and Department of Defense, exclusively. The growing group of combined 5k RUN! To End Homelessness and Veteran Stand Down event sponsors are listed below:
