The Office of Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner announced today the appointment of Neli Vazquez Rowland, President and Co-Founder of A Safe Haven Foundation to the governing board of Illinois Tollway Authority.

“Her experience with leading a non-profit in a successful public-private partnership will bring valuable insight to the Board,” said Governor Rauner.

Neli Vazquez Rowland brings over 20 years of leadership and service to this appointment, and will add great value on advocacy and policy initiatives impacting Illinois Tollway Authority.  As the president and co-founder of A Safe Haven Foundation, her diverse background in finance, general contracting, social and economic development, along with her extensive experience as a public servant will position her to be a qualified resource and asset to the team.

Alignment in my life is essential, and after careful consideration, I am excited and deeply honored to have accepted the appointment by Governor Rauner to serve on the Illinois Tollway Authority Board.  My goal while serving in this role will be to do my part to ensure Illinois Tollway Authority can provide access to jobs in a manner that will reflect the richness and economic diversity of the small business community; and, balance the needs of all of the residents and stakeholders in our great state of Illinois.  I am eager to lend my expertise and experience to support the Illinois Tollway Authority as it is  well positioned to execute the Agencies mission and strategy to improve and to build on our State’s road infrastructure.  There is no question, the road construction projects in Illinois will play an integral role in leading the way for developing and expanding the State’s economic engine.  Our tollways are highways of commerce and growth opportunities not only for creating jobs but for retaining, training and attracting skilled workers and businesses to our state.  Collectively, we all depend on our roads ability to get us to and from work; and equally  for businesses to transport goods as efficiently as possible. I am incredibly mindful of our responsibility to ensure Illinois thoroughfares remain safe for citizens and guests of our state.  I look forward to joining the Board, and will do my part to contribute to an Agency that is focused on keeping our State and our people moving forward”  said, Neli Vazquez Rowland.
