Chicago, IL, March 10, 2015 – A Safe Haven Foundation held a press conference at 2750 W. Roosevelt Road to announce the National Presenting Sponsor for its 5th Annual RUN! To End Homelessness. This year fellow West Side giant, Cinespace Chicago Film Studios has committed to partnering with A Safe Haven Foundation in its fight to end poverty and homelessness. As the biggest soundstage outside Hollywood, Cinespace Chicago Film Studios has not only brought thousands of new jobs to Illinois— but has based its enterprise in Chicago’s economically disadvantaged Douglas Park community.

In addition to announcing the presenting Sponsor, A Safe Haven Foundation, President Neli Vazquez Rowland, announced Governor Bruce Rauner as the 2015 Honorary Chair of the 5th Annual 5k RUN! To End Homelessness. She also acknowledged and thanked the following early sponsors: Enova, ABC 7 Chicago, 101.9fm The MIX, Make It Better Media, St. Anthony’s Hospital, HispanicPRO, NegociosNow, Boingo Wireless, and Callz Team.

‘We are thrilled to have the support of so many prestigious, compassionate, and engaged organizations. I am particularly excited to announce the support of Cinespace, and the Governor” said A Safe Haven President and Co-Founder, Neli Vazquez Rowland. “As an organization that works to inspire and actively provide a path to self-sufficiency to Chicago’s most vulnerable community members, we greatly appreciate the work of other organizations who have chosen to locate in areas of the city most desperate for jobs. That is just one of the many reasons why we are so honored to welcome this mega-company onto our stage; we know how much they do for our city and their role in elevating the reputation of Chicago nationally— helping Chicago change the narrative and to gain the positive recognition it deserves that allows us to live up to our name as the city of big shoulders that helps empower and employ our most vulnerable citizens.”

“My Uncle, Nikoloas Mirkopoulos (Founder of Cinespace Chicago Film Studios) taught me that in order to influence and create change you have to work with and support the local businesses who have made it their mission to positively impact the community.  A Safe Haven has done tremendous things within the North Lawndale Community in a positive way. Cinespace is very dedicated to creating that positive change, which is why we have chosen to support A Safe Haven’s 5K Run to End Homelessness. The individuals receiving help from A Safe Haven aren’t just given a place to live, they receive access to resources and the proper tools in order to function independently within society and not fall back into homelessness. We (Cinespace) are thrilled to support A Safe Haven and lace up our running shoes,” said Alexander Pissios, President of Cinespace Chicago Film Studios.

A Safe Haven Foundation’s 5k RUN! To End Homelessness is Chicago’s first and largest 5k Run in support of ending homelessness in the State and attracts hundeds of corporate sponsored teams, elite and novice runners and walkers from throughout the State as well as many stakeholders from across the Country whom travel the distance in support of the cause.
