As a single father of four, Renardo was determined to create a safer life for his children. They had been living on one of the most dangerous blocks in Chicago and bouncing between shelters with no real place to call home.
That changed when they came to A Safe Haven’s West Side location. For the first time, his kids had space to play—and feel safe.
While there, Renardo enrolled in the Welding Bridge Program and began working toward long-term stability. He also connected with job opportunities and began planning for his family’s future.

After fleeing an abusive relationship in Texas and fighting for custody of her son, Kiara returned to Chicago with her four children—only to face more instability. With nowhere safe to go, she turned to A Safe Haven.
During her stay, Kiara found the stability she needed to heal, focus on her job, and care for her kids.
