This model provides adult education and literacy activities concurrently and contextually with workforce preparation activities and training for specific occupations, facilitating educational and career advancement.

Using the components of Bridge and IET, A Safe Haven prepares individuals for careers in the following sectors: Culinary, Custodial Engineering, Security, and Welding.

Currently, we offer training in the following areas

Please note that a one-day Orientation Assessment is a prerequisite before the two-week Job Readiness course, followed by a two-day OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirement, which ensures safe and healthy working conditions.

Completion of the Job Readiness course is also a prerequisite for all Workforce Training programs, providing foundational skills essential for success in high-demand sectors. We invite you to explore the detailed offerings within our Workforce Training section as you embark on your career pathway.

Bridge/IET – Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts program offers hands-on training in food preparation, kitchen management, and culinary techniques. Students will learn from experienced chefs, acquiring practical skills essential for success in the culinary industry.

Students will also complete the Food Service Sanitation Manager’s Certificate examination, enhancing their writing, critical thinking, mathematical, and customer service skills.
Participants will engage in an 8-week ServSafe Manager Certification program to prepare for careers in the hospitality and tourism sectors. This program focuses on improving academic and employability skills, facilitating successful job placement. Attendance in the education support class is required, as it is crucial for achieving certification and securing employment. Job placement services will be available upon completion of the course and certification.

  1. Achieve measurable skill gains on the post-TABE test.
  2. Demonstrate employability skills, including punctuality, attentiveness, self-management, emotional intelligence, and professionalism. Timely completion of work-readiness assignments, including a mock interview, is required.
  3. Complete the 8-week Certification Program.
  4. Pass the ServSafe Manager Local/National Certification exams.
  5. Present a valid, current state-issued ID during the industry-recognized exam.

To successfully complete the Custodial Engineering program, students must:
  1. Achieve measurable skill gains on the post-TABE test.
  2. Enhance and demonstrate employability skills, including punctuality, attentiveness, self-management, emotional intelligence, and professionalism.
  3. Complete all work-readiness assignments on time, including a mock interview at a satisfactory level or better.
  4. Successfully finish the 6-week training program.
  5. Receive a minimum of satisfactory ratings on weekly evaluations.

Bridge/IET – Unarmed Security Course Overview
The Unarmed Security training program prepares students for roles in security and public safety. Participants will gain essential knowledge in security protocols, emergency response, and customer service.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a PERC card (Permanent Employee Registration Card), which serves as verification to potential employers that they have undergone and passed state and federal background checks and fingerprinting. This ensures that individuals have not been convicted of any felony charges.

Students will obtain a 20-hour training certificate from a licensed security contractor. Completion of the 2-week Job Readiness course is a prerequisite. Attendance in the education support class is mandatory, as it is crucial for achieving certification and securing employment. Job placement services will be available upon course completion and certification.
