ASHF Veteran Housing serves Veterans with different needs, in locations across Chicago that are designed to suit their specific circumstances. Across from Douglass Park, the Rauner Family Veterans Studios serves senior veterans and is situated near the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs Community Resource and Referral Center which is located in A Safe Haven Foundation’s main facility; the Veterans Village in Melrose Park, IL, caters specifically to Veteran families in need of support; and ASHF also has housing for veteran families in East Dundee and Oswego.
Through A Safe Haven Foundation, veterans have access to a range of services, including individualized case management, mental health counseling, substance use disorder treatment, vocational training opportunities, employment readiness programs, and many more. The ASHF Veterans RISE (Resources-Information-Support-Empowerment) program serves Veterans in our community who are at a high risk for suicide. We want to extend our support to as many Veterans as we can, therefore a key aspect of RISE is targeted outreach. The other pillars of RISE include community building, psychotherapy, and an activity-focused approach to help veterans build connections with their peers. We recognize the unique challenges our Veterans face, and ASHF Veterans RISE serves the men and women now in need who served and sacrificed for our country.
