Position Title:             Clinical Social Worker, LCSW

Reports To:                 Director of Programs  

FLSA Status:               Non-Exempt  

Purpose: To provide treatment and case management services to clients in individual or group sessions to assist them in dealing with substance abuse, mental, or physical illness, poverty, and unemployment. The incumbent will be responsible for assessing the client’s mental health status, developing and implementing a treatment plan; may also assist clients in identifying available benefits and community services available.


  • Monitors, evaluates and records client progress with respect to treatment goals
  • Conducts GIPRA assessments
  • Conducts mental health assessments
  • Provides individual and group therapy to identified clients
  • Develops an individual treatment plan for clients
  • Conducts treatment plan reviews in the DFASA rule 2060 required deadlines
  • Completes required paperwork for each client file
  • Documents all services in the AWARDS data base
  • Completes required monthly billing and outcome reporting
  • Performs audits quarterly and/or as required
  • Provides case management services as needed
  • Completes referrals in a timely manner
  • Effectively communicates incidents and/or crisis information to supervisors immediately
  • Refers client to internal and external resources as needed to meet the objectives of their individual service plans
  • Develops and maintain relationships with clients and encourage them to maintain a positive attitude
  • Analyzes data/information pertaining to individual service plans and clients progress
  • May be asked to work late during busy periods to ensure completion of duties
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client services
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls
  • Effectively communicate with staff and residents of the organization
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude during difficult and high stress times
  • Knowledgeable about community programs and resources for clients
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information clearly and effectively
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Ability to maintain composure in difficult and complex situations
  • Ability to perform duties with limited supervision
  • Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, and 20 feet or more
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent periods of moderate to loud noise
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds 



  • Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates/Licenses Required

  • LPC, or LSW required 

Language Ability

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulation.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Math Ability

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Computer Skills

  • In order to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the job, one must possess the following computer and program skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, E-mail, and Internet.
