Chicago, IL, February 14, 2022A Safe Haven Foundationis proud once again to be the exclusive beneficiary of the 2022 Chicago Auto Show and the Chicago‘s Largest Canned Food Drive taking place February 16-18, 2022.

“At A Safe Haven we are grateful to the sponsors of the Chicago Auto Show Food Drive, including the Chicago Auto Show, the new-car dealers of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association and Alan Josephsen Co. Inc and especially to all of the car lovers and families who attend the auto show with cans of food to donate. They truly help us end hunger for those in need. The canned goods are a valuable resource to help us distribute and provide groceries to our food insecure neighbors through our weekly food pantry in North Lawndale community. We also use the canned goods to help provide three healthy meals to over 3,000 homeless individuals annually who rely on our transitional and supportive housing programs. Unfortunately, the pandemic has caused a significant increase in demand for both food and transitional housing programs.” – Neli Vazquez Rowland, President and Co-Founder A Safe Haven Foundation.

“It’s always a highlight of the show to see the generosity of our attendees who make the effort to share food for those in need and bring it to the show,” said 2022 Chicago Auto Show Chairman, Bill Haggerty. “We were unable to host the food drive during our shortened “Special Edition” show last summer, so bringing it back this year makes it that much more meaningful.”

A Safe Haven’s Community Food Pantry distributes food to families from neighborhoods in the food desert surrounding the social enterprise’s main campus at 2750 West Roosevelt Road, just 5 miles from the Auto Show. The canned goods also help serve 1,200 meals prepared daily to residents at the homeless services organization.

A Safe Haven is a complete solution to preventing, addressing and ending homelessness and helps return individuals and families in crisis to self-sufficiency. The meals served at A Safe Haven are prepared by residents enrolled in the organizations Food Services Culinary Job Training, one of several vocational skills job training and placement programs. Since 1994, A Safe Haven staffing services has been a top resource for employers ready to hire trained and job ready candidates join their teams and help contribute to their mutual success.
