Community Food Pantry
“Once we found the Community Food Pantry, we knew our prayer had been answered. Finally, no one would have to be hungry.” –Sheila G.
ASHF’s Community Food Pantry, in partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), opened its doors to the public and has continually provided emergency food to the community in North Lawndale since 2006.
The Community Food Pantry’s mission is not only to provide food, but also valuable information about community resources to help meet the specific needs of each family. In 2010, we served an average of 597 individuals weekly at an average cost of 10 cents per person. And, we served approximately 165 households each week at an average cost of 36 cents per household.
The Community Food Pantry provides emergency, non-perishable food items to those in need on Wednesdays between 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. All are welcome!
