Position Title:             Education Manager

 

Purpose:This highly visible position is charged with assisting the Director in administering and managing A Safe Haven education programs. Supports and manages the education staff, day-to-day operations of the department, and ensures all grant and contract requirements are met. This position supports the development, coordination, and implementation of program curricula. The best candidate for this position is abreast of and has implemented best practices for educating adults and has experience in developing career pathway opportunities for urban youth. This position also serves as a facilitator/ reviewer for staff performance and guides the work of others through positive leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the department efforts for developing and managing education department budgets and approved expenditures
  • Supports the development, coordination, and implementation of program curricula and program design, which includes the financial literacy program
  • Manages, trains, counsels, and evaluates education department staff
  • Assists the Director in providing quality control in implementing and evaluating programs as well as in completing and reviewing funders’ reports for each department program
  • Responsible for assessing the needs of the community along with assisting management in program planning, implementation, and monitoring educational programs for adults and youth
  • Evaluates education and youth programs on a bi-weekly basis; including improving current programs by coaching staff, reviewing data, and addressing program gaps
  • Ensures that the education staff are equipped to and are meeting all grant requirements through customized trainings or professional development opportunities
  • Assists Director to establish and maintain relationships with funders and external partners (e.g., community, educational, and governmental partners)
  • Performs quarterly audits of programs; participates in funder initiated audits
  • Partner with the Grant Team to research and secure new funding
  • Attends all funder required trainings, conferences, and meetings
  • Collaborates with Managers to discuss how the education programs, grants, outcomes, and initiatives impact and support the agency’s mission and goals
  • Analyzes data to ensure program performance goals are met; initiate plan to address participant educational gaps or program deficiencies immediately
  • Provides guidance counseling and social work services to adults and youth
  • Oversees the scheduling–computer lab, classroom space and availability

Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • Five years of progressive professional responsibility for management and administration of adult education and youth programs, including curriculum development and demonstrated advanced knowledge of supervising teachers, educating low-skilled, underemployed adults as well as developing opportunity youth

Certificates/Licenses Required

  • Teacher’s Certification
  • Experience in logistical administration of continuing education programs and meeting activities; prior association or nonprofit experience
  • 3+ years’ experience implementing Title I or II WIA/WIOA programs and 3+ years’ experience partnering with Chicago/Cook Local Workforce Boards is preferred
