Position Title:                    Custodian/Janitor

Reports To:                         Chief Engineer

FLSA Status:                       Non-Exempt


Purpose:   This position is primarily responsible for maintaining the building and keeping it in clean and orderly condition.




  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office space
  • Empty tenants’ trash and garbage containers
  • Operate floor machines, Carpet Cleaner and Extraction, Floor stripper and  burnisher
  • Assist in maintaining and tracking inventory of supplies
  • Clean the park on a daily basis
  • Distribute supplies to other locations
  • Clean laundry room, elevators, kitchen, and classrooms
  • Wash windows
  • Set-up and take of rooms for meetings and events
  • Polish tables and wipe items down
  • Monitor the building and bathrooms throughout the day
  • Clean snow and debris from sidewalk
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions
  • Report the need for major repairs or problems with building maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds




  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 1 year  related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
