For Your Information
Decisions are being made over the next two weeks that will have significant impact on Fiscal Year 2012 appropriations levels and human services contracts. Please take a minute right now to make one very important call. The budget passed by the General Assembly at the end of May makes unnecessary cuts to human services. The Senate has proposed restorations to certain human services programs in HB2189, Senate Amendment 1. Legislative leaders are meeting in the next two weeks to continue discussions. This is our last chance to impact funding levels in the FY12 budget. They need to hear from all of us that we support additional funding for human services and we need them to restore funding. |
Follow the four steps.
Call your state representative and senator ASAP at 217.782.2000 (the operator can look up by your Illinois address, or you can look up their Springfield number here) and deliver the message in the bullet points below: • I am a constituent who lives [or works] in your district and I urge you to support the restoration of funding for human services in FY12. • The budget passed by the General Assembly in May includes unnecessary cuts to human services that are critical to our community. Supporting addiction services saves taxpayers 1400% on the consequences. • Please contact your caucus leaders and urge them to support HB2189, Senate Amendment 1 and the restoration of funding for human services when they meet again. • This action is needed now. Vulnerable people in our community cannot wait until the fall veto session for vital human services programs to be restored. Thank you for raising your voice on behalf of the homeless and those experiencing the disease of addiction. After you make your call, please forward this alert on to your friends, family and others and urge them to weigh in too. |
