A Safe Haven is Proud to Announce 2014 Honorary Host Committee of 4th Annual 5K RUN! To End Homelessness and Inaugural Veteran Stand Down

Chicago, IL – June 6, 2014 – A Safe Haven Foundation is proud to announce the Honorary Host Committee of the 4th Annual 5k RUN! To End Homelessness and Inaugural Veteran Stand Down on July 13th in Chicago’s beautiful and historic Douglas Park. Mayor Rahm Emanuel will serve as a Chairman of the 2014 Honorary Host Committee. We are excited that over 55 honorable elected officials from across the State have agreed to stand, walk, and run in solidarity of ending homelessness in the State of Illinois, especially for our veterans.

“I am overwhelmed with joy to see so many elected officials from across the state supporting this event and coming together to help us end homelessness, especially veteran homelessness. It is a true testament to Illinois leadership’s compassionate dedication to the most vulnerable citizens and constituents in our state.” said Neli Vazquez Rowland, President.

5K RUN! To End Homelessness

The Honorary Host Committee is taking an active role in supporting the event in many ways such as, serving as Team Captains for a 5K team and inviting family, friends, and supporters to join the fun on July 13th. They encourage individuals from across the state to stand, run, or walk with them to end homelessness by joining their teams or creating their own teams for the event. To join them or to join their teams and to support your local elected official at the 5K RUN! To End Homelessness in July 13th, please visit www.asafehaven.org for more information on registration and the day’s events.

Veteran Stand Down

This year, the 5k RUN! To End Homelessness event will be immediately followed by A Safe Haven’s Inaugural VETERAN STAND DOWN. The Veteran Stand Down is a Veterans-only event in the Douglas Park Field House which offers veterans in need direct access to clothing, haircuts, healthcare services, education, employment, and housing. The event proudly supports our nation’s heroes and is committed to helping every veteran in our community. The Veteran Stand Down is a way for A Safe Haven to reach thousands more veterans this year. We are proud that we provide housing, holistic support, case management, and coordinated care for over 900 Veterans every year with the Veteran Administrations at all levels and other partners.
